Aim: Support for
individual students in class
Our aim is to bring about
a change in the day to day work in the classroom. We wish to
try out and evaluate methods and techniques which can help
individual students to raise their performance. We aim to
meet the needs in this respect of both high and low
achievers.
Project
Description
The project can be
divided into two parts.
-
Identification of the
strengths and weaknesses of individual students
Initially different
methods will be tried to better recognise and analyse
strengths and weaknesses. Also to be observed are work
habits, team work skills, communication skills and
competence in information and communication technology. Two
themes are here important:
a)
Student self evaluation
The
students should learn how to better analyse their own
strengths and weaknesses. They should be able to recognise
the ways they best learn and be trained to reflect on these
on a regular basis. To this end, different techniques should
be used and and evaluated (eg observation sheets,
presentations etc
b)
Teacher led student
evaluation
Again
using a variety of techniques, the teacher will attempt to
analyse the learning type of individual students.
-
Stronger support for
individual students
The
following questions need to be answered.
-
What would constitute
effective counselling for individual students? What kind
of help is appropriate? How can this counselling be
incorporated into the classroom?
-
How can classes best
be organised to best cater for the different achievement
levels of all the students? (Differentiation)
-
How can classes best
be organised to encourage different learning styles,
team work and communication skills?
-
How can Information
and Communication technology best be integrated into the
classroom?
